Memphis Association of Craft Artists Featured Artist - November 2011 |

Following both of his grandfathers in the line of woodworking, Rick has always had someone to watch and learn from. "I don't remember not working with wood in one way or another." His most current influences include Ray Allen and Malcolm Tibbets, although he says, "I like to think I am still evolving. getting new ideas from anywhere and everywhere." Rick has taken several classes at Arrowmont and studied with such world renowned woodworkers as Michael Mode, Ray Key, Malcolm Tibbets, and David Marks. Rick is also involved with the American Association of Woodturners and the Mid South Woodturners Guild. "I do dream about all of the local craft groups (wood carvers, turners, furniture, potters, etc.) getting together in one 'store', or the likes, one day. Don't ask me how to make that happen. I do know there are places like that in different parts of the country and I'm assuming that they are working."
